When you create an account or use the app, we collect:

  • Age
  • Optional details such as marital status and tax filing status
  • Portfolio or financial information you enter for simulations
  • Chat inputs and responses from the AI coach

b. Automatic data collection

We automatically collect limited technical data such as:

  • Browser type and operating system
  • IP address and approximate location
  • Site usage analytics (via Google Analytics and similar tools)

c. Payment information

Payments are processed securely by Stripe.

We never store full credit-card numbers or payment details.

3. How We Use Information

We use your information to:

  • Provide and maintain the RetirePlanAI service
  • Run financial and AI simulations
  • Improve our tools and user experience
  • Communicate with you about your account or updates
  • Send optional service or marketing emails (you can unsubscribe)

We store AI chat logs to improve responses but do not use them to train AI models.

Intellectual Property and Data Use

We retain ownership of all software, algorithms, and content developed by RetirePlanAI.

You retain ownership of your personal data and any financial inputs you provide.

By using the service, you grant us a limited license to process and store this data solely to operate and improve the service.

Internal Support Access

Authorized support personnel may access your account to diagnose issues, respond to support requests, and ensure the service is functioning properly. This access is limited to personnel with a legitimate need and is conducted in accordance with our internal data-handling policies.

4. Legal Basis for Processing

We process your data only when:

  • It's necessary to provide the service you requested,
  • You've given consent (e.g., creating an account), or
  • We have a legitimate interest in maintaining and improving the platform.

5. Sharing of Information

We do not sell your personal information.

We share data only with trusted service providers who help us operate the platform, such as:

  • Stripe (payments)
  • Google Analytics (usage metrics)
  • Email or hosting providers (communication and storage)

All third parties are bound by confidentiality and data-protection terms.

Use of Third-Party AI Services

We use the OpenAI API to power our AI Retirement Coach and related features.

When you use these features, your chat inputs may be securely transmitted to OpenAI's servers to generate responses.

OpenAI processes this information under its Privacy Policy and API Terms.

We do not share account details, billing information, or stored profile data with OpenAI beyond the text you submit in chat.

By using AI features, you understand that your inputs and outputs may be processed by OpenAI solely to provide responses.

AI Connectors (MCP)

If you have a paid subscription, you may choose to connect third-party AI clients (such as ChatGPT or Claude) to your account using our AI Connector.

When you connect a client and grant access, that client can retrieve a read-only copy of your retirement plan data — including your accounts, balances, net worth, income, expenses, and simulation results — in order to answer your questions. This data is transmitted to the AI provider you choose (for example, OpenAI for ChatGPT or Anthropic for Claude), who processes it under their own privacy policy and terms.

Connectors are entirely optional, require your explicit authorization, and can be revoked at any time from your account's Connected Apps page. We never enable this access by default, and free-tier accounts cannot use connectors.

6. Data Storage and Retention

We store your information on secure servers in the United States.

Data is retained while your account is active or as needed for legal and operational reasons.

You may request deletion of your account and data at any time by contacting [email protected].

7. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

  • Access and receive a copy of your personal data
  • Correct inaccurate information
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Withdraw consent to processing

We will honor valid requests under applicable laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).

8. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your data.

However, no system is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute protection.

9. Children's Privacy

RetirePlanAI is for adults 18 years or older.

We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

If we learn that a minor has provided data, we will delete it promptly.

We may disclose your information if required by law or if we believe disclosure is reasonably necessary to comply with legal obligations, enforce our Terms of Service, protect the security or integrity of our systems, or protect the rights, property, or safety of RetirePlanAI, our users, or others.
